| Resume | The Shelleyj Gazette |
A bit about me. I started drawing when I was a little girl, and from there my Mother bought me a pad of paper. She was tired of washing the walls. I have always been interested in art and stories and creating my own worlds. I would sit outside and daydream about being the size of an ant and thinking of the physics that went along with that world. As I got older, seven or so, I remember seeing a 'Popeye' cartoon with a green witch and how it haunted me. How did they do that (make cartoons)? It wasn't until I was 9 that I made the decision to become an animator. So like any kid who was into cartoons, I began video taping as much from television as I could. I then asked, rather fearfully I recall, if I could start a video collection of cartoons. My mother said, 'sure'. When I began my VHS cartoon library, and I was in heaven. She added a lot of Disney films, and began copying the covers using using colored pencils and acrylic paints. I did a pretty good job at it too. After lot of drawing and painting and color theory and design and computer work, I got my Bachelor of Arts in children's book illustration, and my Masters of Fine Arts in animation. Hand drawn, or 2D as the kids call it. That is what always moved me, so that is what I do. The way the masters did it. As such I have a real affinity for vintage things and clothing (especially the 1930's and 40's). If you were to see me on the street, you may think I just stepped from 1944. If you do, then my job is done. That is one reason why I started New Vintage Lady (NVL). There I sell my vintage inspired creations, and my prints. Thanks for visiting the site. Hope the redesign suits those with an eye for the Nouveau ascetic. Please check back often, as projects are being completed, and new designs are going up. Take a peruse around The Shelleyj Gazette for the latest information on my work. Also if you need to send me a wire, please feel free to contact me via electronic post (eMail) if there are any questions you have. Thanks all, S |
